What is a Dental Implant?

• A dental implant is a small screw which is placed in the jawbone. It is made from Titanium and other biocompatible materials. What is involved?

• The implant is placed in a single visit under local anaesthesia, so you do not feel anything during the whole surgical procedure The implant is usually left undisturbed under the gum for a period of 3 to 6 months to allow bone to grow and bond around it.

• It is then uncovered and connected to a small metal part that will secure and support the artificial tooth.
